If I log out, I can view the forum, but of course none of the posts are marked with unread posts. It also means the I have to log out. :) I can get into all the other forums that I've tried while logged in. I haven't tried any of the foreign language or less technical forums.
I get this page;
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewforum-f-23.html
with the message;
Code: | General Error
Could not obtain user/online information |
Firefox 12 on an ~amd64 gentoozian box. If you want any more info, let me know.
Thank you for your attention.

firefox sometimes behaves rather silly. Clear the cache and try again. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Pretty sure that I did that right off the bat. Wouldn't want to swear to it though. But I did do it again, and just for extra measures did the "everything" selection under "clear your recent history". I can get in again. I'm happy.
I've been using firefox on linux for a long time to browse a lot of different forums, and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like it. Perhaps it has something to do with all the times the .mozilla directory has been backed up and restored while I've been trying to get a functional/stable install going on a UEFI board.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

emerge chromium
I know it's a matter of taste, but I have yet to find a better browser. _________________ "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" ~ Dorothy Parker
