I'm trying to install gentoo with gentoo-ix86-1.2.iso
Is it possible to install to software RAID partitions?
My disk setup is:
hda1 ext3 mountpoint /boot
md0 (hda3, hdc3) XFS mountpoint /
md1 (hda5, hdc4) SWAP
other partitions are irrelevant...
Problem is there's no /dev/md0 and /dev/md1 devices, why?
Is there everything needed for raid to compiled in gentoo-ix86-1.2.iso's boot image kernel? I suppose that those can't be modproped, or if they can, how?
It'll be too much job for me to install another linux, compile kernel with raid support and create bootable install cd with it, becouse this seems to be solution AFAIK... Please help if you know better,

also read over the articles section of gentoo , drobbins has written a couple of howtos for lsr and has also linked additional reading.
the only thing that wasnt made clear is that you must modprobe md from the commandline if not you will get bashed when you try to run the mkraid /dev/md? |
