In genere cose del genere capitano quando la root od i filesystem che ci si appoggiano non vengono montati correttamente.
Probabilmente non hai fatto caso ad eventuali messaggi di errore.
Od hai attivato le nuove opzioni (sperimentali e balorde a mio avviso) di openrc per mettere /var/run & c in ram
Sto presupponendo che non è un errore dell'intrd.
