Facebook reportedly uses user content for advertisements. So I don't think it is unprecedented or unreasonable to consider. The TOS could also clearly indicate it is solely for the purpose of delivering your own data to yourself.

what exactly is wrong with being informed and aware of such T&C. accepting or not accepting is one thing, realising others do it is another; but to just disregard any such T&C is a special kind of stupid. there is never anything wrong with furthering your knowledge - what you do with said knowledge definds you (but at least you ain't an idiot). I myself don't find the terms bad since I am using the drive to share files anyway.
what would be interesting is what if you attach the gpl to everything gdrive

I'm not accusing him of crying for reading the Terms and Conditions, I'm saying he's whiner for crying about them. I'm also saying he has a very liberal view of what evil is. |

After reading through it slower, it seems some of it is needed in order to work with your files. I don't like that it says "Our services" implying it can be used on whatever google comes up with in the future.
I signed up for it, I'm going to store some pdf manuals of stuff I've scanned on there. I'm not going to use it for anything personal. |

It would be very easy to word it such that "we may modify it to provide your content to you alone" or something clearly limiting their use of it. Which seems absent. And because of that, I think it is "evil."
Put another way, prior to Google, did you have a positive opinion of the marketing and advertising industries, with particular respect to their interest in knowing "all" about you? I've never met anyone who did, so I would ask why is Google suddenly OK. Kind of like how Bush was bad for doing "it" but it's OK with Obama doing "it."

All of them use almost identical wording. With the exception of Google saying "our services" as I mentioned in one of my other posts.
They're all evil. Pick your poison or abstain.  |
