Hi,

I just update my KDE today to 4.8.1, and I'm having some difficulties with the Device Notifier. Just to be clean, I wiped my .kde4 directory, and started from scratch.

There are two problems:

1) The device notifier pops up almost half-way up the screen, instead of immediately on top of the kicker/system tray. I can find no way of moving it down. Very annoying.
2) I used have my fstab cifs share available for mounting, now that is gone. I never had to configure it, it was just there. When I go to configure Device notifier, it only lets me choose: "Removeable Devices only", "Non-removeable Devices Only" and "All Devices". I don't want all devices, cuz I don't want my other partitions showing, I just want the cifs share... Any way to do that anymore?

I have tried removing my .kde4 directory again, in hopes that it would regenerate new, healthy kde4 configs, but of course, this did not work.

Anyone have the same problem? Anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks.

G

Same problem here.

Have you tried grabbing and dragging the device notifier window while "Alt" is pressed? It should be moveable that way.

I once had a way too large control bar - the bar was displayed correctly at the bottom of the screen, but the shadow outline on the top was in the middle of the screen, and all notifier messages, the application launcher and the calendar (from clicking the clock) aligned their bottom border at that position in the middle. This went away when i manually resized the control bar. Maybe this helps.

Hmm... I don't get a "Hidden" option when I right click the device notifier

I get either "Device Notifier Settings" or "Remove this Device Notifier". Choosing the former likewise does not yield a "Hidden" option.

Hah, cool. I never knew that. I tried right click, left click, middle click and combinations of those buttons, but never would have tried Alt! However, while I was able to drag it to a new position, it kept popping right back up 1/2 way up the screen each time I clicked it. Finally, I did your "Alt+click&drag", then went to system tray, and chose "Always show" for the Device Notifier, and it remembered the new position.

Thanks! That is one down... I don't have much hope for the other... Unless, of course, someone else out there has some insight :)
