Need help to know how to migrate an existing install(solved)

I've began upgrading my home media server so that the main OS drive is in a RAID-1 environment. This involved installing a 3rd SATA controller. While doing so, things were great and moving smoothly. Then, after the third or fourth reboot, the computer began to give 1 long POST beep and never start the boot process. After some troubleshooting, it turns out to be the slot that I installed the card in had went out. I made sure it wasn't the card by putting one of the other working SATA controllers in that slot and had the same result.

The old motherboard was an AMD based MSI brand board. The replacement will be too, but my question is: Since I am staying with an AMD processor and MSI manufactured motherboard, is there any need to re-install the whole OS? Or should I just be able to plug it all in and go?

This is not windows, so there is basically no need for a complete reinstall.

* but make sure you have a live cd ready, if you have to rebuild/change your kernel.
* you might have to check/remove /etc/udev/rules.d/70-presisitent-*, to get eth0 as your primary network interface.

read the portage output!
If my answer is too concise, ask for an explanation.

You were right, didn't even have to change my compile flags.
