I try emerge-webrsync and I got an error saying the current time stamp is newer than the approx time stamp and after I fixed that I get this

have replace the mirror with about all of the entries on the list
it almost seems as if rsync is not able to connect to the internet

I am experiencing the exact same problem with emerge-webrsync.
I have to use webrsync since I am behind a firewall.
Used to work in the past, now it doesn't. What changed? I can connect to the websites fine and wget works.
The clock on my computer is reporting the correct time: Thu Apr 5 16:10:19 EDT 2012

I switched mirrors. Now I can sync fine.

updated the time and it was about 5 min off but used rdate so it is now spot on and still the same with emerge-webrsync

I have found my problem. The root partition is out of space.
it is 50GB an the /home has the rest of the hard drive.
can I take a tar image of the sda1(/) and put it on a external hard drive then expand the sda2 partition to take the whole disk untar the root to sda2 and move my /home files to /home on the partition.

not sure if this will work just looking for an opinion

50 GiB should be enough, you are running out of inodes perhaps?

if I take a tar image of the root dir without /home and /boot and reformat it with a larger inode count then reinstall grub and copy the root partition back it should fix it?

That might work. Alternatively, you could move /usr/portage to a separate filesystem. It consumes a significant number of inodes on its own.

thunar was keeping everything in the /root/.trash/ folder as I use it from the command line offten
