Code:
C6820s grom # emerge --update --deep --newuse --keep-going --ask world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     U ~] dev-libs/atk-2.4.0 [2.2.0]

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]
>>> Verifying ebuild manifests
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) dev-libs/atk-2.4.0
>>> Failed to emerge dev-libs/atk-2.4.0, Log file:
>>>  '/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/atk-2.4.0/temp/build.log'

C6820s grom # wgetpaste /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/atk-2.4.0/temp/build.log

Code:

C6820s grom # wgetpaste /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/atk-2.4.0/work/atk-2.4.0/config.log

C6820s grom #  emerge --info =dev-libs/atk-2.4.0 > first; wgetpaste first; rm first

So it has been week or two (last 3 updates) that I have this trouble...
is it because it is masked (~)?

Thank you

If you look at the output, it says
Code:
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.31.2... no

What is your current glib version?

Code:
$ ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~amd64 emerge -pv atk

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     U  ] dev-libs/atk-2.4.0 [2.2.0] USE="introspection nls -doc" 593 kB

Total: 1 package (1 upgrade), Size of downloads: 593 kB

For me, it does not upgrade glib to version 2.31.2. It might be a bug in the ebuild. Try upgrading glib and then emerging atk.

aha aha, thank you radius, I guess you found the problem.

Code:
C6820s grom # eix dev-libs/glib
[I] dev-libs/glib
     Available versions:
        (1)     1.2.10-r5
        (2)     2.28.8 2.30.2 ~2.30.2-r1 ~2.30.3 ~2.32.0 ~2.32.1
        {debug doc fam hardened +introspection selinux (+)static-libs systemtap test utils xattr}
     Installed versions:  2.30.2(2)(10:02:14 PM 01/02/2012)(static-libs -debug -doc -fam -selinux -systemtap -test -utils -xattr)
     Homepage:            http://www.gtk.org/
     Description:         The GLib library of C routines

I guess I have it on latest stable version (if I found the right glib that is, kheh),
so I will upgrade it to latest unstable version, and try again to update atk.

And one more question,
when stabile version of glibs comes out, like 2.39,
will emerge world update my unstable version of glib to stable 2.39?

thank you

I don't think so, but I am not sure. Most of the times, when an unstable version of a package is marked as stable, there are already more unstable versions, so you will have glib version greater than 2.39 by the time it is marked as stable(if you don't unmask only 2.39).
