Hello,
I got an audio book as a present which is in the aa format. So far, googling has not brought up anything useful about how to play that on Linux apart from a quite complicated transcoding process involving Windows and Nero Burning Rom. Any new developements I might have missed? Can VLC play them (well, mine can't - but I have the stable version from portage, so not completely up to date)? _________________ Kali Ma

Clad in Sky,
I think your best bet is using the Audible software in WINE as indicated in this post: http://homeatlinux.blogspot.com/2010/11/listen-to-audible-audiobooks.html
At least that link only requires the use of WINE, Audible's software, and a script.
It seems that your audio book is probably protected by DRM and in that case, can only be played back by Audible's own software.
I don't think that even the latest version of VLC can play back DRM-protected files. |
