Xorg did not want to start because of a mismatch Abi version of x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa-2.3.0 . Revdep-rebuild did not saw that. I recompiled the driver and then it worked. Is there a tool or an option to detect that globaly? _________________ Paul |

I don't know "why", because I never looked into it really. But this happens from time to time with the xorg input and display drivers, and revdep-rebuild doesn't catch it. I usually recompile all of them by hand when I see xorg-server in the "emerge -auDvN world" list. |

In portage 2.2 you can do 'emerge @x11-module-rebuild'.
Of course... it's hard masked. |

ABI mismatches of plugins are generally not detectable except by the loading application. |
