We'd have none of these problems if we'd have just let Mitt Romney handle things.

well, i wouldn't quite put it that way (a lot of the athletes aren't rich). but its a good way to funnel money to private investors.

do you know they have asked londoners not to take public transit during the olympics? Yes, that's the same public transit my taxes (not YOUR taxes as a tourist and spectator) pay for. roads are being closed to shuttle athletes (ok makes sense) and dignitaries (fuck off) to and fro.

I think that they should fucking sky rocket tube fares for olympics. that'll make me feel better.

You know what happens if a country with a not so sound economy hosts the Olympics?

Have you seen the Winter Olympics? All the events are hobbies of rich white people. OK maybe anyone can run, but something like skiing? Rich white people.

and of course enrich and enpower the IOC members and NOCs...

They want Olympic Games? Fine, so they shall pay for everything. Why should the tax payer support this schemes?

Hey, there are Asian contenders as well. And there used to be Jamaican ones as well (Disney(?) even made a film about them). True, not many black and arab skiers around, but that might have something to do with the lack of snow in the area most of these people live.

i like them just fine. I just don't think a huge amount of taxes should go there. In fact, the amount of money to send athletes to the games isn't high, just hosting it is a pain (and potentially ruinous for a city).

The athens olympics was a blowout, but the UK economy is ten times of the size the greek economy was back in 2004. When the Olypmics were in Sydney, they spent half the amount the greeks did, and had an economy that is twice the size in 2000.
