Posted: Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:03 am Post subject: Dependencies of libxml, openssl (SOLVED) |
|
|
Code: | !!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:
dev-libs/openssl:0
(dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
>=dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8g:0[-bindist] required by (net-voip/telepathy-gabble-0.16.7::gentoo, installed)
(dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=dev-libs/openssl-0.9.6d:0[bindist=] required by (net-misc/openssh-6.4_p1-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
dev-libs/libxml2:2
(dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.1-r1::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
dev-libs/libxml2:=[icu] required by (www-client/chromium-33.0.1750.117::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
(dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.1-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)
It might be possible to solve these slot collisions
by applying all of the following changes:
- dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f (Change USE: -bindist)
- net-misc/openssh-6.4_p1-r1 (Change USE: -bindist)
- dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.1-r1 (Change USE: +icu)

I just switched to Gentoo and first time on Portage, I accidentally enabled ssh on kernel and I don't really use/need it. I want to purge any related software (i.e. openssh) and be over with it but I can live with it anyway, so that's a question plus.
In priori, I need to stabilize my system. I probably shouldn't have installed chromium with that hesitation but I had to use internet and don't really like lynx.
Can someone explain this to me?
How will I fix these dependencies, preferably without compiling chromium
P.S.: Simply applying afromentioned changes to portage preference files, Obviously, doesn't solve it at all.

If you do not want openssh support, you can unmerge it. After that, finish your other updates and then tell emerge to clean dependencies, which will unmerge any packages that are no longer needed. The changes shown look like they should exactly solve your problems and do so cheaply. If you disagree, then please make those changes and post the output of emerge --info ; emerge --pretend --update --deep --newuse --verbose @world ; for a in /etc/portage/package.* /etc/portage/make.conf; do cat -n "$a"; done. |

Well, I just unmerged and re-emerged libxml2 and it seems fine now.
However, openssl is still the same..
Code: | dev-libs/openssl:0
(dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
>=dev-libs/openssl-0.9.6d:0[bindist=] required by (net-misc/openssh-6.4_p1-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
(dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8g:0[-bindist] required by (net-voip/telepathy-gabble-0.16.7::gentoo, installed)
|
If I remerge it with new use of -bindist, (likewise of which I did with libxml2) it complains about having builts with different ebuilts, there I got over..
Code: | emerge --update --deep --newuse --verbose @world root@machine
--- Invalid atom in /etc/portage/package.use: dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo
* IMPORTANT: 7 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
* Use eselect news to read news items.
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8g:0[-bindist]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1f::gentoo (Change USE: -bindist)
(dependency required by "net-voip/telepathy-gabble-0.16.7[-gnutls]" [installed])
(dependency required by "net-im/telepathy-connection-managers-2-r1[jabber,-msn]" [installed])
(dependency required by "net-im/empathy-3.8.6" [installed])
(dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-core-apps-3.8.0" [installed])
(dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-3.8.0-r1" [installed])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

I specified -n so that the line numbers would show jumps from one file to the next.
The error message printed by emerge indicates that your entry for OpenSSL is invalid, and therefore ignored. You must specify a valid atom.
Are you planning to distribute most of the packages you build? If not, why do you have USE=bindist enabled globally? |

I guess "--newuse" got it again but I screwed.
Thank you, I'd give -n a try later, I just thought might as well put my own signs since I already memorized the files
Edit: bindist came probably default since I didn't had much time to creep around make.conf, I would probably add some possible CPU related additions to that late I have time. Classes are due to Monday and I got tired of Arch. |
