I've got 2 gentoo boxes that have had Virtualbox running just fine for quite some time, and I use the vboxwebsrv to manage the virtualbox guests remotely. I recently started messing with some apache settings on one machine and the vboxwebsrv page quit working (although Virtualbox itself still worked fine if I ran it under Gnome or Xfce).

In attempting to get it working again I uninstalled & tried re-emerging Virtualbox but I keep running into this error. I also attempted to re-emerge Virtualbox on my other machine (the one that wasn't having any problems) and hit the same error message, so now I'm not sure if the root problem was my messing with apache or not at all.

The main error message is here:

Code:

Has anyone else run into this problem? Do you think I'm doing something wrong or is it a bug?

Thanks,

Yes, I had the same problem a few minutes ago. I just turned the web service use flag off, and everything compiled fine. Judging by the google answers, it's not the problem in the virtualbox itself. But switching the web completely may be not the solution you want, in this case I can't help, sorry. ;)

Thanks for conifirming that it wasn't just me :)

I also tried it yesterday without the vboxwebsrv flag and it compiled just fine. I really love that feature but I guess I'll have to live without it for a while. I'm going to open a bug so hopefully it can be fixed.

Having vboxwebsrv off also works for me. Same for virtualbox-4.2.0-r1 btw.
Even tried with Sun's java (sun-jdk-1.6) instead of icedtea6-bin but no luck.
Any news on this?

I have been beating my head against a wall all night trying to fix this. I think I found what is causing the error, but I do not know enough about XSLT to be able to fix it. Whatever is creating:
Code:
./work/VirtualBox-4.2.0/out/arch/release/bin/sdk/bindings/webservice/vboxweb.wsdl
is putting an empty xmlns (xmlns="") attribute for all <message> and <operation> tags beginning around line 15880. If I manually remove these tags, the WSDL parsing command will succeed.

Anyone out there have the knowledge to figure out what is missing to cause this empty namespace attribute or where to start looking to try and get this fixed?

I opened bug #437192 a few days ago and several other users have joined it. It sounds like a patch from bug #436246 may be what broke it for us.

Thank you for the solution to the problem I have with virtualbox installing, removing vboxwebsrv from the use flags allowed me to install virtualbox :)

I tried the -bin install, but I couldn't get a headless install, with that option removed.

Now I can run asterisk inside the virtualbox once again :)

If you downgrade libxslt to 1.1.26 you can install virtualbox with the vboxwebsrv use flag.

Thanks, Dewke. In 2-3 hours I check it. :)
