What is wrong with people in these states? I mean how do you vote with clear conscience for a guy who says conservatism is about imposing one's beliefs on others, a guy who hates freedom, hates homosexuals and wants to keep invading the middle east?

You will have to address these questions to pjp, since he's from there.

I live here, I'm not from here.

As for the results, I'll be honest, I'm surprised. I expected Crazyville (Colorado Springs/El Paso County) to go for Santorum, but I thought the state was otherwise primarily not religiously psychotic. In past elections, the state has gone for Clinton and Obama, suggesting they aren't totally effed in the head (blindly partisan).

Have I mentioned this place is full of crazy religious psychopaths? If only they'd move to Texas.

Some Santorum supporters probably believed Santorum would win too. I bet they were just as surprised as the Paul supporters.

Politics isn't about policy
Quote:
Civics teachers talk as if politics is about policy, that politics is our system for choosing policies to deal with common problems. But as Tyler Cowen suggests, real politics seems to be more about who will be our leaders, and what coalitions will rise or fall in status as a result. Election media coverage focuses on characterizing the candidates themselves – their personalities, styles, friends, beliefs, etc. You might say this is because character is a cheap clue to the policies candidates would adopt, but I don’t buy it.

The obvious interpretation seems more believable – as with high school class presidents, we care about policies mainly as clues to candidate character and affiliations. And to the extent we consider policies not tied to particular candidates, we mainly care about how policies will effect which kinds of people will be respected how much.

Has anyone found a reasonable prediction yet? I'm finding sites with 1% or 2% reporting. That hardly seems worthy of predicting a winner.

EDIT:

Local news is showing 16% reporting, Satan still ahead at 48%.

EDIT2:

95% of Crazyville reporting, win for Mephistopheles.

These are rather insignificant events for the nominees (delegate count wise), though they do help with fundraising.

I have heard that Santorum spreads.

I want Santorum! He's the only other guy up there besides Ron Paul who's voting record backs up his mouth.

So, nobody else thinks Santorum looks like Jerry Sienfeld?

indeed. but shouldn't what comes out of his mouth matter?

I actually don't see how you can compare ron paul and santorum. they are polar opposites. it's amazing they are running for the same party.

Well, he wants government to get involved in the definition of marriage, but I'm willing to accept that if it means a stable economy.

What else has he said?

That's another "you all look alike" problem. No, they look nothing alike.

Seriously, they don't look alike. And for what it is worth, I don't think "they all look alike" is a racist or pseudo-racist problem. It has been demonstrated that interracial recognition is not all that good (I forget if it was mentioned to be a "nurture" issue... seems like it would be).
