Here in Birmingham and since we've had a 'Gnat's fart' level of dusting, it now means traffic chaos for a week.

Don't forget, Denver has a large African-American community. If you compare just Caucasians you won't get an average much higher than 4 inches there either. _________________ Please refer to "Austria" as "Republik Österreich" or "Republik Oesterreich" to avoid misunderstandings. Thank you.

Why don't you all of you let me know when you had real snow. Im south west of denver, and we had 26 inches between thursday and friday.
Edit, it was 26 inches by 6PM, it kept snowing fairly hard until close to midnight. So probably around 30" all together. _________________ Cats are deadly animals. If you stick your nose up their crotch and snort their piss, THEY CAN KILL YOU!!!

This is in Mostar, where it usually never snows:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Y9WZpHKsrRI
people are really not ready for it down there, no winter tires and shizzle
When snow falls down there, its an event as if meteorite fell. |

That kind of snow there isn't much being ready for it. Even in cities that are prepared for snow, 3ft is a crapload. You have to put it all somewhere to clear the roads. Of course in cities used to that kind of snow, they do at least have the equipment to manage, though it still takes a while. From that video it seems like they'll be screwed for week or so (not sure how quick it will melt there). _________________ Cats are deadly animals. Yeah, but in places where it doesn't snow a lot, people are not prepared, and they don't know what to do and not do. That's when you see people getting their cars stuck all over the place, people with no means to stay warm if the power goes out, people with no food, no water, etc. _________________ Obama killed bin Laden like Nixon was the first man on the Moon. |

Very true, that is one thing I noticed friday (i went to work to save the vacation day), is that everybody just stayed home. The few people you did see on the road all had 4wd. Compared to SC, it is kind of surprising to see how everybody just takes it in stride. Back home, people would flip out every time it would snow. _________________ Cats are deadly animals. Yeah I've noticed it seems like the general area around denver (especially near the foothills up to boulder) seems to get the brunt of the storms that hit the front range. It doesn't bother me too much though, at least not yet. A year ago at this time I'd never seen more 6" of snow.
Strangest thing I think I've seen with weather is how the continental divide seems to affect it. Went snowboarding today, and it was cloudy with flurries all the way to the tunnel on i70. Come out the other side and it was clear blue skies all day long (they didn't get any snow from this storm either). _________________ Cats are deadly animals. The mountain range has an effect on where snow falls, rain shadow. Colorado Springs is much closer to the mountains than is Denver, so we often don't see as much snow. This storm is a good example. I got ~6", more on the eastern side of town. I work on the western side of town, which saw <2". I went farther southwest (toward Cheyenne mountain) today, and it appeared to have received no snow.
Weather in CO seems to be very different from everywhere else I've been. I think every place has had people claim the "wait a minute, the weather will change" story, but it is actually true here. Sun, snow, rain, cloudy. All in the same day. Sometimes at the same time :D
Do not play games in the mountains when it is lightning. Often reliably in the afternoon during springtime. _________________ Safety is my gaol.
