Starting with that kernel line I'm observing at my system (2 GB RAM) during emerge (reproduceable if I emerge qemu-kvm) often a heavy i/o load to the hard disk over a range of 10-20 min. Furthermore the load is between 10-12. The system is nearly unusable in that time frame.
Anybody else made such experiences ?
Update: Could this be related to the switch from SLAB to SLUB ? /Update |

yep something similar here,
i have 8GB RAM quad core and had similar experience while using chomium and vmware-workstation, something went mad and system was crawling for 5-10 seconds and went normal for a minute and then again.
i went berserk with kernel config and somehow i am smooth now. |
