Hey ppl, I need some advice. I'm using linux for more than 2 years now, and I am thinking of Installing Gentoo on my machine (now I am using Arch), because I want to try something new. My machine is Asus N53, 6gb of ram, 750hdd 7.2k rpm, i7-2630qm, and nvidia 540gt with stupid nvidia optimus technology, which is not supported on linux. So i will need to use acpi_call module to turn nvidia off and use only intel video card for better battery life time. But the main question is about compiling, how much it will take to compile everything with my machine? |

are you sure ??
my i7 920 didnt need much more than 6 hours to build a new install with gnome.
libreoffice alone would take probably one more 1 hour or so.
cheers guys |
