Hi there, most probably this question will be ill posed, but I'll try anyways. I've made many changes to my system lately (like compiling gnome 3 after not emerging anything for over a year). Recently (even before I decided to do the emerge -uND world) my touchpad will freeze frequently forcing me to do a modprobe -r bcm5974 and then reload the driver. This will get it working again. The problem with this is that then syndaemon stops working. So for a while I had a script like
Code: |
sudo modprobe -r bcm5974
killall syndaemon
sudo modprobe bcm5974
syndaemon -i 2 -d |
to reload the driver and reload syndaemon. This worked like a charm for a while but now not even that... syndaemon runs but it does not stop the touchpad while typing.
There are many things that might be wrong with my system (like having some x11-modules built against a kernel source newer than the kernel that I am actually running (*) ) but I was wandering if someone here has seen this situation happen. By the way, I'm leaning towards (*) being the real reason of my problems, could this be?
Thanks,
R. |
