|

hi,
please excuse the rude subject, but hey, at least i got your attention
the short story behind this posting:
I moved from gnome to dwm and want to get rid of all applications that come with gnome.
this process is mostly finished, one of the last things that are left is the image viewer.
eog works really well, but I just don't want to install it again because of the dependencies. don't ask or argue, it's just like that, I am a strange person.
the features I want from an image viewer are:
- sane default zooming (pictures that are too large to fit the window are scaled down, pictures that are smaller than the window are shown at 100% size).
- one-hit keys for operations like
- toggle fullscreen
- rotate left/right by 90°
- display previous/next image in the folder where the current image is located
That's all i ask for. No thumbnail stuff, no editing features, etc.
To my surprise I didn't find one with those features except eog.
Is there any image viewer out there can can be configured to do what I want ?
I am seriously considering writing my own if I don't find one.
Any hints welcome, thanks in advance. |

I have not used it in a while but media-gfx/feh may do all you require from the command line? |

Be sure to get the ~arch version. _________________ "You have to invite me in" |

thanks everybody for the replies.
I just tried ristretto, it does what I want out of the box, which is cool. The dependencies are acceptable, although something that does not depend on the xfce libs would be even greater.
feh looked very promising, I tried it some days ago but did not get warm with it.
Sadako: could you provide an example of a config file that at least steers in the direction I want my image viewer to be ? |

Or geeqie, which is a maintained fork with extra features (all of them can be compiled out though) |

Is it actually still maintained? Last time I checked I had the feeling that geeqie too is not developed anymore. Which kinda sucks for particularly one thing: I'm not moving to gtk3 just yet, but there'll be a point when I will, and it'd be extremely nice if one of these two had a gtk3 version. They, and only they, provide exactly what I want from an image viewer. |
