Hi again.

I've just setup my laptop for fbsplash and I'm having several issues. First off the bootsplash image is overwritten with text during the boot process. Second I must press Alt+F5 to switch to tty5 and have GDM actually start.

So far as I can see the splash image is displayed on tty0 but also the boot process text, which I don't understand since I appended kernel argument CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 (I've generated my initramfs with genkernel as mentioned in the wiki article I've linked to).

I have an ATI video card and am using Kernel Mode Setting. But I guess there's nothing special about that. Can anybody help? (It's been a long time I haven't played with bootsplash screens...)

Thanks in advance.

Problem solved: had to pass kernel argument console=tty1 and not CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 ...
