|
|
My on-board laptop microphone has been working successfully for capture in all my audio apps (Audacity, etc.), but I can't hear anything back in the skype test call.
I checked the settings to make sure that Skype was using the same devices as the working programs. They look the same to me. A side by side comparison is here
Hopefully I missed something obvious and this is an easy fix...Any ideas.
(I'm pretty sure things aren't accidentally muted, I just made a test recording in Audacity and it worked beautifully. But skype still doesn't work! ) |

Oi Drasica,
I do not have built in mic, but I use alsamixer to set up my mic to work with skype.
I had newbie trouble since I did not know how to toggle on/off on capture device,
but it is simply set by pressing space button.
I know this might be a long shot, but that is my 2 cents. _________________ Kind regards, Goran Mitic

I'd be surprised if you ever get Skype working since it's a Microsoft product, but here's a few things you could try:
- Use plughw:0 for input and output so that alsa does resampling if the app doesn't know how to
- Shut down every other process that might be using the sound card before running skype
- If you're using pulseaudio, remove it. If you're not, add it.
