Im trying to install java on my Gentoo using the emerge virtual/jdk command but I get an error mesage: Failed to emerge dev-java/java-config-2.1.9-r1
I installed a selextracting file on usr/java/ but when I run the usr/java/jdk1.7.0_01/bin/java -verson command it gives an error
-bash: java: command not found
Can anyone help me |

Have you tried "emerge -v icedtea-bin" or "emerge -v sun-jdk"?
