I just finished 'emerge openoffice' but when I try to run it I get:

$ cd /opt/OpenOffice-1.0.0
$ ./setup
Aborted

strace ./setup shows like if it is trying to 'mkdir /user/config/registry,' which obviously fails for a non-root user. Yes, I tried to run as root but I had to rebuild the beast (parts of OO were deleted)

Any sugestions?

TIA,
Norberto

I think you have to do something like this:

Code:

$ cd /opt/OpenOffice-1.0.0
$ ./soffice

I wouldn't know it off the top of my head, I don't have Openoffice installed on this machine.

Thanks but it didn't work. There's no output :(

Perhaps my CFLAGS are the culprit?

Code:
CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O3 -pipe -fforce-addr -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -frerun-loop-opt -fr
erun-cse-after-loop -malign-functions=4"

Before I go to compile this again (~12 hours in my system,) does anyone know if the above CFLAGS cause known problems with OO?

TIA,
Norberto

It's probably too late to post in this forum for answers, but I wanted to know if you found a solution to the problem besides recompiling with different flags, seeing as how I have the same problem. :)

/opt/OpenOffice-1.0.0/soffice and /opt/OpenOffice-1.0.0/setup

both exit with the message "Aborted".

In strace, it looks like when I run soffice, it can't find:

/opt/OpenOffice-1.0.0/program/applicat.rdb

Which isn't on my system for one reason or another.

If no one knows of a fix, I'm just going to unmerge this, because I doubt it's worth another overnight compile.
