Hello, sorry for bad English, i'm Russain.
Two days ago i install Gento to my small serverbox with FastTrakTX2. I had some problems IMHO in kernel level.
When i try boot from Gentoo iso 1.2 (stage 1), i got messages like this
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=3946&highlight=fasttrak
hdf: set_drive_speed_status: status=0xff { Busy }
Warning: Primary channel requires an 80-pin cable for operation.
hdf reduced to Ultra33 mode.
hdf: set_drive_speed_status: status=0xff { Busy }
hdf: status timeout: status=0xff { Busy }
hdf: drive not ready for command
And other channel too........
After that i don't see my 0+1 4x raid.....
I try slackware 8.1 boot cd - all OK.
I get another hdd and attach it to onboard controller and install Gentoo to this hdd. I emerge mjc-sources and compile it. (I'm not "just married" with linux and select and compile in all fasttrak stuff)
After reboot similar errors.
I emerge vanilla 2.4.18 kernel, apply rmap patch and compile it - after reboot all ok.
My system work on raid now.
This is my question.
It is kernel problem or Gentoo problem? At home i use similar card and my Slack live on raid. I am afraid..... |

I have successfully compilled a 2.4.19rc3 kernel. Fasttrak works normally. It was the kernel problem.
But why the install iso is not made on the basis of a stable kernel (not preXX)? _________________ ORIGIN: Who is general Failure and why he read my disk? |
