Hi!

It appears that my qemu fails to start:
Code:

Could not access KVM kernel module: No such file or directory
failed to initialize KVM: No such file or directory
No accelerator found!

Bot the kvm module and the /dev/kvm device node are missing. Running modprobe kvm loads the module, but still does not create the device.

In a regular setup, who is responsible for the creation of that device?

Would I be correct in assuming that the device node is usually created before the module is loaded, and that accessing said node automatically triggers loading of the kernel module?

qemu used to work before. Of all the changes I made since, the activation of the consolekit USE flag appears to me the most likely candidate of this change. But any package update or other modification might be involved in some obscure way as well.

modprobe kvm-intel or kvm-amd. And make sure you have vt/svm capable CPU AND bios that support it.

Thanks a lot, loading kvm-amd did it! :D

Now I also found out why things stopped working for me: in my /etc/conf.d/modules file I had added kvm-amd to the modules_2_6 variable, but I'm now running linux 3. Surprising I hadn't noticed this before.
