i have it compiled into the kernel. it is loading. everything is dandy. just one problem x complains that it can't find a /dev/agpgart. how do i make this link or file?

Did you compile devfs support into your kernel? You can check if /dev is mounted correctly with:

$ mount | grep devfs
none on /dev type devfs (rw)
