Install mutter 3.5.2 - compiling build OK with flag introspection, install from layman overlay (request install layman : emerge layman) :

synchro list repozytorium layman's

layman -S

add repozytorium suka

layman -a suka

next install mutter

emerge -av =mutter-3.5.2

I used a quick & dirty workaround to fix this problem:

I emerged mutter and after configure had ran, I used ctrl-z to stop the process. Then I dove into the /var/tmp/portage directory and edited the Makefile in the package's src directory. I searched for 'warn-error', a command option for g-ir-scanner to treat warnings as errors. After I removed this parameter, I resumed the compile again with the 'bg' command.

I tracked the error back to following upper bound dependency problems:

mutter-3.4.1 compiles only with:
<=dev-libs/gobject-introspection-1.32.1
<=dev-libs/gobject-introspection-common-1.32.1

and gobject-introspection-1.32.1 compiles only with
<=dev-libs/glib-2.32.4:2

Emerging this versions manually i could compile mutter.

However, I also changed the ebuild files of mutter and gobject-introspection to match the requirements (to the COMMON_DEPEND section),
but the resulting dependency conflicts are to many for a an "emerge -uDN world".
Some gnome 3.4 packets require on >=dev-libs/glib-2.33.3

Maybe using DEPEND section in the ebuild file would solve the build dependency problem, but I don't know if it then works for the runtime.

I will inform the gnome overlay maintainers of this problem, maybe they will alter the ebuild files to a dependency failure free solution.

Should be fixed as of a few minutes ago: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/x11-wm/mutter/mutter-3.4.1-r1.ebuild?r1=1.3&r2=1.4 :)

In the future, please report gnome-overlay bugs in bugzilla (use "GNOME" as the component and prefix the one-line summary with "[gnome-overlay]"). We members of the gentoo gnome team automatically get notifications from bugzilla, but read the forum only sporadically, so if you only wrote about the problems you encountered in the forum, it's quite possible that we do not not know about it.

I submitted a bug earlier this morning (before I read this forum thread :oops: ) - Bug #427540. I changed the component to "GNOME" as directed. Just one point - this ebuild is in the portage tree, not the gnome-overlay, so I didn't prefix the title with [gnome-overlay]. I'll link this forum thread with the bug report to help anyone experiencing this bug. Thanks in advance.
