Just imagine... your mentor and closest friend has just tried to snuff himself. You discover the news... your reaction is to compose a concerto... this is the result...

Good, but doesn't seem connected to such a "reaction."

Brahms' biographers often note that the first sketches for the dramatic opening movement followed quickly on the heels of the 1854 suicide attempt of the composer's dear friend and mentor, Robert Schumann, an event which caused great anguish for Brahms. He finally completed the concerto two years after Schumann's death in 1856, by which time his relationship (which was most likely platonic) with Schumann's widow, Clara Schumann, had grown into a lifelong friendship.

I wasn't questioning the accuracy, it just doesn't seem that emotive to my ear.

The octave trills sound like pure anguish to me.

I only made it through 10-15 minutes or so before my phone went wonky. Didn't realize it was 55m, so I'll continue.

I wasn't focused either, so I may have missed some nuances.

The Peddlers - On a clear day

Weird instrumental interlude, but otherwise amazing.

Been having a little health issue, and was admitted into the cardiac ward yesterday. Today I did a nuclear cardiac stress test. After being injected with a radio tracer, I was getting ready to slide into the gamma camera/x-ray and the nurse asked me if I wanted to listen to some music during the 15 minute process. She had Pandora, so I said put on some Pink Floyd. As my radioactive body was sliding into the equipment, Welcome To The Machine started playing.

Must have been quite an experience.

Hope you get well soon and don't have to adopt a vegan lifestyle.

Echo cardiogram looked good as did the nuclear stress test. There is a strange Q-wave that comes and goes.

That stress test was a bitch. They get you up to your maximum heart rate (on an inclining treadmill), inject you with more isotope and you have to continue at that rate for another minute.

Texas Flood by The Man, Stevie Ray.

Cream. I remember trying to play this song with my cheap guitar. I was like 14. :)

Lovely... both choices.

You made me load up an SRV DVD.
