Hi,

I'm trying to emerge gnome-desktop, so I do that, and it has to emerge gnome-vfs first. So it goes through all the steps, compiles, starts to install, and then I get this strange error message:

Code:
...
/var/tmp/portage/gnome-vfs-2.0.1/image/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libtar.so
/var/tmp/portage/gnome-vfs-2.0.1/image/usr/lib/bonobo/monikers/libmoniker_gnome_vfs_std.so
>>> Completed installing into /var/tmp/portage/gnome-vfs-2.0.1/image/

--------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---------------------------
LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-gnome-vfs-2.0.1-4529.log"

mkdir:     /root/.gconfd
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
!!! emerge aborting on  /usr/portage/gnome-base/gnome-vfs/gnome-vfs-2.0.1.ebuild .

I tried it twice with the same result. Is the ebuild for gnome-vfs buggy?

Paul

I don't know if you ever got this resolved. I just ran into this problem while doing a emerge -u --deep world. Oddly enough, I didn't get it during the intital emerge.

My question to you would be, were you using sudo to run your emerge command? I found that when I sudo su - and then ran my emerge, that it built fine.

I think it has something to do with effective userID or some such.

I'm pretty sure I was using sudo when I ran it, because I use sudo almost always. (If not sudo directly, then sudo -s to get a shell and then emerge.) I almost never log in as root from the login screen.
