I was really stupid after doing a emerge --update --deep world, and I accidentally deleted the ._cfg for /etc/conf.d/hostname. I want to re-emerge the package which set up that file with --noconfmem turned on, so that I can get it back and properly update my /etc/conf.d/hostname. I just have no idea what package to re-emerge. baselayout doesn't seem to do it.

Does this seem like a good plan? Is there a better way to do this?

Also, after doing my emerge --update --deep world I get this after startx:
Code:

hostname: ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/getpagesize.c:32: __getpagesize: Assertion `_rtld_global_ro._dl_pagesize != 0' failed.

I assume this has to do with my bad hostname file. Does any about have any ideas about this? I get a similar message when I execute hostname -d. So, I think it has something to do with the domainname being confused.

Thank you for the help! I really appreciate it.

Code:
> equery b hostname
 * Searching for hostname ...
sys-apps/openrc-0.8.3-r1 (/etc/init.d/hostname)
sys-apps/openrc-0.8.3-r1 (/etc/conf.d/hostname)
In =sys-apps/baselayout-1*, /etc/conf.d/hostname was owned by sys-apps/baselayout, but it moved to sys-apps/openrc for =sys-apps/baselayout-2*. However, given the simplicity of /etc/conf.d/hostname, I would just write it by hand. All it has is hostname="my-host-name".

I do not think the glibc assertion failure is related. That assertion message looks familiar, but I do not recall the cause. Could you post the output of emerge --info?

Thank you for your hostname info! I couldn't find what had changed. I have made the change, and you're right, the glibc assertion is still there.

Code:

matt@hrafnkell ~ $ emerge --info
