merging webkit-gtk takes 7 hrs time
now r300 has been merged and it is doing r200
why both are needed? i would like to save the merge time if possible _________________ reach out a little bit more to catch it (DON'T BELIEVE the advocate part under my user name) |

i am in a fix
r300 merged first and now it is going on merging r200 for last 10 hrs35 minutes
i cannot stop it . if a power outage comes i had it.
when r200 is required there is no alternative than wait it out.
after if it compltes merge i will mask the package _________________ reach out a little bit more to catch it (DON'T BELIEVE the advocate part under my user name) |

Now that you have merged both (you probably don't need r300, but I know portage brings it up first), you can just block future updates to webkit-gtk, and you won't lose anything until some package requires a higher version that 1.4.1 (I believe it will be a fairly long time).
If you decide to mask AND unmerge webkit-gtk, you will be unable to use a few "minor" browsers like epiphany and midori, a few programs that have a built in web browser like the RSS reader liferea and the HTML mail plugin for claws-mail, and little more. But now that the work is done, why would you want to unmerge webkit-gtk?
If you pick the first option, just add the following to /etc/portage/package.mask/main
Code: |
>net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.4.1-r200
>net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.4.1-r300

huh ! i do not have a /etc/portage/package.mask/main
only /etc/portage/package.mask
i have put both webkit-gtk in package.mask
i will leave them both installed. having done 19 hrs of merging why unmerge?
further update of these packages i will not do.
thanks for the response _________________ reach out a little bit more to catch it (DON'T BELIEVE the advocate part under my user name) |

Right, sorry, I forgot to mention your /etc/portage structure might differ, but I see you got it nevertheless. Glad to help! |
