Following the Gnome install docs, I got an emerge error stating I need to add sqlite to my use flags, which is not outlined in the gnome docs. Being a newcomer, should I log this as a documentation bug?

kwilliams0,

Welcome to Gentoo.

Its a feature, not a bug. Gentoo isn't really a distro. Its a set of tools you use to build your own distro. The profile you choose during the install phase, covers the common settings for the core applications that most users will want to use.

When you want to add other things, you need to modify your setting accordingly.

It you were strictly following the Gnome docs, it may be a new option that is not yet covered in the profile you have choosen.

NeddySeagoon,

Thanks again for your response. People like you keep the community vibrant and active, so thank you!

I now understand that when you emerge something and you are missing a use flag, you simply need to add it. I was however following the document perfectly, and it went over the required use flags, but it missed that one. As such, isn't that a documentation bug?

Moved from Documentation, Tips & Tricks to Desktop Environments. Not a documentation tip but rather a support request, so it fits better here.
