Have not been able to compile glibc-2.15 with march or mtune bdver2 (or bdver1). Have the patch to fix avx and virtualization issues but it never compiles properly with bdver2 flags; march=native also gives problems. It seems to compile fine and finish but upon restarting xfce4 window manager (or restarting the computer) I get pango errors and corrupt text-icons.
Closest to bdver2 flags that work are: "-O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mno-3dnow -msse -msse2 -msse3 -msse4a -msseregparm -mfpmath=sse -minline-all-stringops -fopenmp -mprefer-avx128 -fno-tree-pre -ftree-vectorize -funroll-all-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays"; otherwise I get corrupt icons and no text on my desktop. This is with gcc-4.7.1 and binutils-2.22.52.0.2 on amd64. All other packages are built with the same flags but also including march=native and mtune=bdver2. Thoughts?

I would poke around on the gcc bug tracker and see if it's a known issue, they're probably the ones who will ultimately fix it, unless you fix it yourself and submit a patch to gentoo |
