Any improvement with skype-2.2.0.35, which was bumped on June 15th?

I just noticed that Skype 2.2.0.35-r1 started using 25% (one full thread) of my C.P.U. usage while I was logged in. However, it does not do this on my other computer, which has the same version. Both are AMD64. Masking 2.2 and installing 2.1.0.81 fixed the problem for now.

Same issue over here, same solution :P Skype takes over one whole thread after being open for a short while.

AMD64, +qt-static.

Although it seems that the emerge procedure is simple I still cannot install skype on my amd64. I have a non multilib environment and skype crashes claiming a non existent file. After some investigations I think I came up with an answer: the non existent file is the ld-linux.so library. Skype searches for it in the /lib directory and even softlinking doesn't solve the problem because it claims again, saying that the library is corrupted. Any suggestion?
Bye!
Paolo

Skype is a 32 bit application. No chance to run this on non-multilib.

amd64, skype 2.2.0.35-r1, no pulseaudio.

Removing .Skype/shared.xml resolved the problem.
However, I feel a bit burned and have just started using Google Voice instead.
About the same price for calls.

hnaparst,

2.2.0.35-r1 is solid for me so far.

I never got video and audio to work at the same time on Google Voice, so stuck with Skype for the time being.

To paraphrase Cyndi Lauper, it is stable until it becomes unstable.

I am not sure what the trigger was that caused 2.2.0.35-r1 to become unstable,
and I am not sure if it will start crashing again.

Interesting info about video. Thanks.

Hm, mates I think I found something.
For me skype crashes only when the "automatic login" option is on. When I enter my pass manually it starts as a charm.
Hope I helped. (ver. 2.2.0.35)
P.S. Excuse my poor English :)

This fix worked for me.

Back to Skype 2.1.0.47 for me.

Before, Skype 2.2 would crash when I restarted it after changing the theme settings; the only remedy I could find was to delete the whole ~/.Skype directory. This wasn't a big deal, as I don't really need the custom theme settings.

However, I just found a new crash mode: if I start Skype 2.2 after someone has left me a voicemail, Skype crashes. This is a common use case and tough to work around.

This seems to have solved my problem, which was it crashing a few moments after login (when it seemed to be checking the status of my contacts).
Maybe it's just a fluke and I shouldn't celebrate too soon :?

I know this is an old thread. I just wanted to add my 2 cents in case someone else is looking: creating the logs directory as mentioned above solved this issue for me. Skype-2.2.0.35-r1 on amd64.

Hmm, that fix of creating the Logs directory takes CPU usage from 100% (one core) to 185% (most of two cores)!

Deleting the Logs directory again drops it back to 100%
