|
I have a bizarre problem. I have one machine that has a relatively new install of Gentoo on it, and I have installed ibus, ibus-anthy, and anthy, for doing Japanese input. This machine (alone among three), does not have the ibus-setup program available! I've tried re-merging, etc. Everything looks fine. The packages are reported as installed. No ibus-setup. There's no USE flag that seems relevant (how could there be? This is a basic element of the software - it's necessary).
Does anyone have a clue what could have happened here? What can I tell you to help you help me?
Thanks.

For the lib, most of the useflags probably are irrelevant.
For ibus-setup, I'd check X and gconf useflags. |

On my system, ibus-setup came from ibus. I have X gconf nls and python use flags enabled.
Code: | mybox sam # equery b /usr/bin/ibus-setup
[ Searching for file(s) /usr/bin/ibus-setup in *... ]
app-i18n/ibus-1.3.9 (/usr/bin/ibus-setup) |

As a matter of fact, it appears that the 'python' USE flag is what controls the appearance of ibus-setup. I'd like to test one more time to be sure I've got it right, but I think I've narrowed it down to this. If so, this is totally b0rken behavior. The output of 'equery uses' only says 'Adds support/bindings for the Python language'. No hint that an absolutely essential utility is tied to it as well. If the maintainers of this package are watching... take a hint, please.
EDIT: I have confirmed: ibus-setup is only included when USE="python" is specified. |
