|
|
Hello,
Is there any reason why the upcoming development versions of wesnoth are not in portage?
Next to the stable version (currently 1.8.5, in portage), there is a development branch (1.9.5 at the moment), as listed on wesnoth.org.
However, it's not in the official portage tree, nor in any overlay. Is it due to the lack of manpower, or is there some strict policy on this? |

There is no policy preventing a development version to be added to the tree.
Looking at the homepage it seems the 1.9.5 version not intended for the everyday user. Nonetheless, you can file a bug stating why it would be worth adding it and the maintainer might then decide to do so. Attaching a working ebuild to the bug usually helps.
Also it's quite common to skip development releases to lower the maintenance cost of a package. So, unless someone asks, it probably wont be added. |

There's a SCM version in that overlay, but Caveat Emptor. _________________ sig temporarily out of order |
