Simply modify the /etc/chromium-browser/default file with gedit or leafpad or another pure text file editor to add this flag to the chromium flags:
--user-data-dir
And voilá, chromium starts in a root profile! |

In OP's defense... I don't believe there is any NEEEEED to have chrome or any other GUI application running as root. BUT, sometimes its way more comfortable.
Perhaps most of you believe that vi is the best editor ever, but some of us have never had the time/desire to learn all those magic formulae and we stick to something as simple as kwrite. Perhaps most of you know all those xvjfpqdmletsdance commands for tar, but talking for myself, I don't use that daily, and for this simple reason I cannot memorize. Having a konqueror session open allow me to select, right-click, and voilá, a .tar.gz, or tar.bz or whatever created. So no one NEEDS to use GUI, its just that sometimes we don't care.
I've hit this thread because I'm installing gentoo on a new machine and I have root only and I was surprised by this blockage. Not a big deal. _________________ i7-720QM | nVidia GT 230M | 4 GB DDR3 + 640GB swap (I know right?)
