Hello All

Did somebody have Civ V working ?

I am on gentoo AMD64 with kernel 2.6.32.2 , ATI 5770 drivers from emerge ati-drivers.10.12
opengl set to ATI
Wine 1.3.9 , and tested on 1.3.15 to

I installed wine 1.3.9 as it is rate as gold.

be fore installed I run
Winetricks corefonts vcrun2008 d3dx9

BTW, vcrun failed to installed.
But Civilizatiopn V from DVD installed ok.

But when I selected the game from steam , I have the Unhandled page fault because of Lancher.exe.

It's my second installed ,my system is recently installed.

I read somewhere to install the game without dx9 and vcrun2008 from the dvd.
But how to skip this ?

If the vc runtime failed to install, you need to stop and get it installed first (use winetricks to do so).

The one marked gold is unpatched, original DVD version, check this link for latest version under STEAM, it's only rated bronze.

I add on my make.conf the flag xml

Because the Launcher.exe want to show the CLUF .
It's the CLUF that d'idn't show and make the Unhandled page fault

But now I have an other pb with this game.

I can not launch a new game. The screen stay on the king civilization presentation.
I have read that many people on ATI with the ati-drivers have the same issue.

:x

iam sorry vibidoo,

will not bash you and ati/nvidia. But with my nvidia i have no (graphical) issues during the game.

But the game itself its not so great. Maybe with the last patch. But before there was some memory crash issues on large maps. The Multilayer Part is not (really) available. I would wait some more time before playing Civ5 and give Civ4BTS a new chance. :)

I Start just the Steam.exe with Wine and Click on the Steam Games-Lib and Start Civ5. But i have deactivate the Intro in some config Files and Use only the directx9 Mode of Civ5!

Between the Retail and the Steam Version is NO Difference, for both you will need Steam.

P.s. I have the last patch State (1.0.1.217) of steam and Civ5.
