Hello all,
I am considering in the next few months upgrading my pair of Nvidia 285s to a pair of Ati 6970s.
I noted that with Nvidia, I can't do dual screen and have SLI enabled from Linux.
I was wondering how good or bad Ati are these days from a Linux and possibly Windows point of view (the last Ati I owned was a 9700pro)?
I mainly thinking of Ati as they have display port on them where as Nvidia is still DVI/HDMI.
Will I have any issues using the pair to their full and on 2 1080p screens and with crossfire enabled, via displayport and on fglrx? (Oh and on 64 bit)
Many thanks in advance.

If you run CrossFire you can use the display outputs of one card. So if that card allows you to use 2 DP, 1 DVI, 1 HDMI simultaneously, then they will still work in CF.
The proprietary ati-drivers generally work, however AMD is slower to support new kernels and X.org server version than NVidia is. In Windows, you even get some features (e.g. MLAA) that are AMD-only. |

Thank you sir, much appreciated
So by the sounds of it Ati are much better than they were in the Linux space and unlike Nvidia on Linux at the moment I could have 3D "on", crossfire on and have both screens active. Which is nice.
