gcc-4.6.0 compiled until 7.880 Mb then error out.
Was that at end? Because afterwords I saw the message:
Code:
* Don't have at least 8000MBytes disk space at /tmp/.private/root/tmpBUweWq/portage/app-office/libreoffice-3.3.99.4/temp
 * Bad things may happen! You may abort the build by pressing ctrl+c in
 * the next 15 seconds.
My $PORTDIR has 20.000 Mbyte. I do have /tmp on tempfs with just 1.800 Mbyte. Is /tmp really used when installing the ready compiled package?

... The next time I unmount my /tmp on tempfs and I will try with USE -java

you need a lot of space under $PORTAGE_TMPDIR.
there was a bugreport where the user had too few inodes even. :o

make sure you have enough.

- My partition where $PORTAGE_TMPDIR is located hat 20GByte (knowing libreoffice needs 10Gbyte). It is an ext4 partition with only 2 linux source trees (2.6.38 and 2.6.39). Has ext4 inode issues as was with ext3 formatted partitions?

- Why did your libreoffice ebuild mention my tempfs /tmp with a warning about space? Does it use /tmp in any way, when in installation stage?

It does everything in /tmp and only afterwards installs to / - portage does it with all packages

There's a problem configuring 3.3.99.4--flags are passed the first time, but then autogen runs and with it, configure runs with nothing passed to it. See the (pruned) log below for a clearer picture.

Code:

you are missing the actual error. though, there are some known compile errors. one would be with bison-2.5.

Error trying to compile 3.4.0.1:

So this is the mentioned bison compile error - solution: just use < bison-2.5?
-> Same error with 2.4.3, or should I recompile from scratch instead of qmerge?

wrt bison error, check patch at:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/367963

going to include.

I wonder why git build hangs after install .... the only command in src_install that could hang would be sed.

edit #1
argh, yes, sed linebreak missed. I just miss 'em too often.

thx a lot, finished successfully now. ;)

Something's broken with the desktop files though, gonna investigate.

Only libreoffice binary seems to be available with writer, calc to be started as --arguments now?

Every libreoffice fails with "templates" USE flag on install phase:

Without thus flag everything installs as intended.

I have run into same error Genewb did. My USE flag "-cups" set never made problem before now. app-office/libreoffice-3.4.0.2 compilation fails with the following error
Code:

checking cups/cups.h usability... no
checking cups/cups.h presence... no
checking for cups/cups.h... no
configure: error: Could not find CUPS. Install libcupsys2-dev or cups???-devel.
bash: ./*Env.Set.sh: No such file or directory
make: *** [dmake/dmake] Error 1

Is cups required for libreoffice to compile these days?

ryszardzonk
well, that is just a part of the config.log which does not help.

still guess it is a double run of configure. so this log is not interesting at all. ;)

JFYI, looks like the zlib configure failure comes from core i7 avx feature [0]?! :o
evil '-march=native' flag hiding optimizations ...

btw there's a bug in 3.4.0.x where libreoffice --calc crashes when moving worksheets via drag and drop, 100% reproducible (for me).
