|
|
Hello all,
I've recently dug up a machine I'd not messed with in awhile. I did update to many things...KDE included.
I found that the XSESSION setting is no longer in /etc/rc.conf...but in a file in /etc/env.d/90xsession.
Why was this moved. Also, just looking around, looks like many different things moved here...and all the files seem to start with a number.
Is there any significance to the numbers starting the names?
Just hoping to learn a little about the move, and what to look for in this directory when configuring other things...what all uses this new directory?
Thanks in advance,

It's a bunch of environment variables, grouped by applications/topics.
/etc/rc.conf is the global configuration file for OpenRC, which is responsible for runlevel management. Variables concerning GUI applications don't really belong there, think of servers for example. Hence /etc/env.d/90xsession. _________________ lxg.de – codebits and tech talk |

Thank you for the reply.
Is there any significance to all of the files in there starting with a number...like in the example you gave...90xsession starts with "90"??
Thank you,

The files in /etc/env.d are processed in alphabetical order, so using numbers lets you easily controll the order of execution. |
