When I try install emul-linux-x86-baselibs I see error:
rm: cannot remove '/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/emul-linux...........libatalla.so' : Bad file descriptor

my CPU is atom n450
my make.conf
CFAGS="-O2 -march=core2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
MAKEOPTS="-j3"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64"
USE="mmx sse sse2 sse3 m3dnow"

What wrong in my make.conf. Maybe I must use -march=nocona?

Could be some corruption in the filesystem or on the hd.

Try to boot with the option init=/bin/bash (press "e" on the boot option in the grub menu and append the option to the kernel parameters) or boot from a livecd, then run fsck on your partition e.g.:
Code:
# fsck /dev/sda3

When I run rescurecd with default boot option 1) everything is ok, and emul-linux-x86-baselibs installed.
I choose earlier 6) 64bit kernel with default option
Thanks

what filesystem do you run on? I had some problems with recent kernels on btrfs - had to step back and things were okay again...

I couldn't clear the /var/tmp/portage after building GCC on reiser4 either. There was always one folder that I couldn't delete but move. This was a different error message, I think...
