Basic Docs

I've been far from gentoo for a long time (years) and recently installed with handbook but there are no docs for a basic gnome desktop, i remember the wiki fully with howtos and i know the database is lost, so i simply ask, where can i find this useful information.
I have an asus ul80vt and i cannot control brightness , volume control indicator on gnome is not shown, suspend to ram is not working properly.

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance for any help.
