Hello,
I am trying to get some DVD player program to play DVD's.
When I try to get Totem to work, I get the following error message:
Code: |
(totem:7859): Totem-WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name
|
BTW: I am running KDE.
I am massively failing to get any DVD player to work. Hence trying to run Totem inside KDE.
I'd appreciate your advice. |

I am not sure what is causing your error, but if you just want to watch DVDs, then I recommend you try VLC player. I works very well on my box using kde. Information for installing it is at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-gentoo.html
Good luck! |

That warning is probably harmless.
As you are in KDE, obviously gnome-settings-daemon isn't running. |
