I want to confirm or fix my memory that the ntp-client only updates the clock in these situations...
1. at boot time, when the service gets initially started, then no other automatic date/time updates after that until the next boot cycle.
2. when service is manually restarted, or some cron job restarts service.
and then it just flat updates time to the current time. _________________ Drinking from the fountain of knowldege.

The init script just calls ntpdate in start() so yes, that is accurate.
If you are considering a cron job, use ntpd instead. |

Wasnt considering a cron job at all, just checking on the various ways ntp-client could execute. I am aware of ntpd. In this case, I don't want constant monitoring, just the update at boot up time. _________________ Drinking from the fountain of knowldege.
