Since flash suppports VDPAU http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=ODg1Mg I wanted to make it work.
VDPAU and proper full-screen on multi-monitor configuration is supported only by 32-bit version of flash (I really, really wanted both of that). I installed 32-bit flash and nspluginwrapper (im on amd64) but still, I couldn't make flash use VDPAU backend. The problem was lack of 32-bit version of libvdpau (32-bit libvdpau_nvidia.so is insalled by default on multilib configuration). After obtaining proper version of libvdpau everything works like a charm (1080p flash and 3% CPU usage, yay!).
I don't know how long we will have to wait for 64-bit adobe-flash with VDPAU support, so I guess 32-bit version of libvdpau should be shipped with app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs? |

Sorry for bumping such an old thread. I'm having problems with libvdpau_va_gl and I think it's related to multilib.
Since flash 64bits is too unstable for my daily usage, I'm running the 32bits flash with nspluginwrapper. The problem is that libvdpau and libvdpau_va_gl aren't available as 32 bits. I've emerged emul-linux-x86-xlibs and now I have a libvdpau version, but still no libvdpau_va_gl. I think I'm missing this.
This is firefox 64bits running with flash 32bits through nspluginwrapper:
Quote: | Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_va_gl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
|
What can I do? Will I need to build libvdpau_va_gl with a 32bits compiler? I really don't understand what is the magic that nspluginwrapper is doing. Since emul-linux-x86-xlibs was merged so fast, I was hoping that it was only lots of symlinks, but apparently they are not.
EDIT:
It's supposedly going to be available very soon, on the next release of libva: https://github.com/i-rinat/libvdpau-va-gl/issues/40 |
