Hi all:

I'm having a problem with a network card I installed into my machine. The kernel modules install fine, and lspci -vv shows that the card is utilizing them, but past that, eth0 - eth3 simply do not show up with ifconfig. The card is Intel's I340-T4, and it utilizes the 82580 chipset. I installed the modules both via the Linux kernel, and also with the latest version off of Intel's website, and after multiple reboots and different tricks, I simply can't get it to work. I booted up using an Ubuntu Live CD and it configured the device fine, so I know it's me who's overlooking something.

Here are some outputs if it helps:

ifconfig
Code:

I have a feeling the previous network card could be what's causing problems with the new one, but I tried all the tricks I know of and it simply won't work. The module probes fine at boot, but then dhcpcd complains about not being able to find eth0 or eth1, so I can never get online.

I'd appreciate any help, thanks much!

This is exactly what I needed, and yes, I slapped myself on the head for being so dumb. It turns out that the NIC is eth2 - eth5, so I configured the port just fine.

For some reason, the net.eth2 - net.eth5 isn't in my /etc/init.d/... but I am hoping that's a simple thing to fix. (Doh, fixed that, forgot it was a simply symlink).

Thanks a TON for the help you two :D
