I have three different versions of the db package installed on my system -- 4.0.14, 1.85-r1, 3.2.9. Now I am not sure exactly what this package does and my question is is it safe to keep only the latest one and unmerge the other 2 or will that break stuff? |

It is a lightweight embedded database library (see http://www.sleepycat.com). Each of the versions you mention is incompatible with all of the others, and so they are not interchangeable. Many applications on your system likely depend on a particular version, and so I would recommend leaving them alone unless you are sure of what you are doing. Naan Yaar has posted a script in Tips and Tricks that will check dependencies for you, you might want to try it out to see what it says about which of these, if any, might be safe to remove. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
