I'd like to install the scientific image processing and analysis program imagej. I can find references on the web about an ebuild for gentoo, to be located in the sci-misc section of the portage tree. However, emerge doesn't seem to know anything about it. Has it been moved elsewhere and/or been given a slightly different name?
Of course I can download the program and install it manually, but it would be nice to be able to get it through portage. |

Hullo,
according to this you can find imagej in ibormuth overlay, for instructions on using overlays see guide. |

Thanks a lot Ahenobarbi, that was a very helpful reply!
Unfortunately, it doesn't install because The way of packaging ant in Gentoo has changed significantly since
the 1.7.0 version, and to remedy this seems to mean fiddling with the ebuild itself.
I think I'm going to install it outside portage... |

the topic is oldish, but I'reply anyway
just copy the ebuild to the locacl overlay, change the version to the most recent one (you will find it on imagej website) and follow the usual way of adding local ebuilds (-->gentoo wiki http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Overlay)
it worked for me, I have the latest version installed. |

I changed the ebuild name to imagej-1.47f.ebuild and it did downloaded the version while doing the manifest.
Then the first thing that the ebuild does is download /usr/portage/distfiles/ij147f-src.zip and right after that it tries to download
>>> Downloading 'http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/download/src/ij143h-src.zip'
Which is not on the imageJ website anymore. I checked the variable IJ_PV and SRC_URI and they both look ok.
IJ_PV is 146
SRC_URI is http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/download/src/ij147f-src.zip http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/images/ImageJ.png plugins? ( http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/download/zips/ij146.zip )
no sign of 43. however it still tries to download it. Therefore ebuild * manifest crashes.
Any clue? |

you can have both ebuilds if you have imagej-1.43h.ebuild and image-1.47f.ebuild at the same time it tries to run the manifest in both.
Cheers. |
