Gnom and ALT+keypad-ascii

Hi,
One little function I like in Windows is the abaility to press ALT+ the ascii code on the numeric keypad to get special characters. I use that e.g. to type 'æ', 'å', 'ø' when writing in certain scandinavian languages.

Is it an easy way og configuring this in Gnome?
